My Musical journey

My Musical life…

I have always been a musician, starting life into a musically inclined family I was a kid who was always singing. I played piano first but when I was 8 years old, I started the violin and that is where the magic happened… I was then introduced to the viola when I was 13 years old at high school and I played both instruments until my second year of university when I was inspired to focus solely on the viola. This was from the opportunity I had to study with Walter Keussner of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra with the help of the Rev Harmer Memorial Viola Scholarship. I have been a violist ever since and that journey has led me to complete a bachelor and Master of Music at the Queensland conservatorium, tour the world including performances in Australia, Singapore, china, Malaysia, Germany, Austria and France. I had amazing support in my hometown of Brisbane and my dear teacher John Curro and his wife Carmel took me on for my 6 years of study at the conservatorium and I ended up learning from john for 9 years including 7 years in the Queensland Youth Orchestras. After my studies I worked many freelance jobs including administration Assistant at the Queensland Youth Orchestras, building my own private teaching studio, performing with the Queensland Pops Orchestra, performing with my colleagues in a trio called Les Trios Graces and I also toured China twice with the Australian International Opera Orchestra. In 2018 I realised that I couldn’t keep waiting for adventure and for an audition to come up so I applied for everything that I could. I won the Lord Mayors fellowship for Emerging Artists which helped me to go back to Germany to study with Walter Keussner. It was such an adventure I learnt so much about music and myself. I learnt so much in Germany it deserves its own chapter. This journey still continues for me as I have been able to return to Germany and am now based in Nuremberg: practicing, performing, teaching and dreaming of the future.
