Ellie Harrison Holistic Violin and Viola School Presents:
Summer String Academy: A Fresh Start
January 7, 8, 9 2019
9am-3pm Morning Tea ProvidedSummer String Academy
I am very excited to be holding a Summer String Academy that will enrich and extend student’s skills and knowledge and cover areas that will add to their musical performance and understanding. Summer has always been my most creative time as a young musician, this is when I compose, have time to learn new pieces, paint scores and read about music and the world. I am so excited to hold this class and to teach these skills to budding musicians - setting them up for positive and happy music making and learning all year long. These specialist activities will develop your child’s musicianship and playing. In my true holistic violin teaching style I will use play based learning and critical thinking to create a deeper learning experience, true enjoyment of music and richer knowledge base.We will:
Develop technique and scales on instruments
Improvise and compose our own music
Study Music History (learn about composers, their music and their impact on the
world)
Develop Aural Skills (listening skills, playing in tune, rhythm, singing)
Study Music Theory (how to read, write and analyse music)
Play music in a group (team building, awareness in a group)
Learn solo pieces for holiday practice
Have fun with music games and music craft for creative learning
The Academy will conclude with a performance of chamber music, solo playing and presentation of new compositions. Each student will complete The Academy with new skills, creative possibilities and friendships.
The Academy will be a very selective group, please contact me to discuss your child’s age and experience to see if this is a good fit for them at this stage of their learning: 0409 802 223 or ellielouise.harrison@hotmail.com
‘The true purpose of arts education is not necessarily to create more professional dancers or artists. [It’s] to create more complete human beings who are critical thinkers, who have curious minds, who can lead productive lives.’ - Kelly Pollock
‘It is necessary to be concerned about the importance of educating a really beautiful human spirit’ - Dr. Shinichi Suzuki
